How the window cleaning robot works

1. Suction on. Place the robot on the glass and switch it on — the vacuum motor pulls it flat against the pane and holds it there.
2. It maps the pane. Onboard edge sensors find the frame on all four sides so the robot knows exactly how big the window is before it starts.
3. Spray, scrub, dry. The CCJ-14 model mists cleaning fluid directly onto the glass ahead of itself, then the rotating microfibre pads lift the dirt and wipe the surface dry behind it.
4. Planned route, then park. Instead of bouncing around randomly, it drives a methodical N-shaped path across the whole pane, covers every strip, and returns to its starting point when it's finished.

Is a window cleaning robot safe? Four things that keep it on the glass

What glass it works on

The robot is designed for flat, framed glass — standard windows, sliding doors, glass balcony balustrades, shower screens, mirrors, glass tabletops and shopfront windows. It handles both framed and frameless panes.

It is not suited to leadlight or heavily decorated glass, panes smaller than roughly 20 × 20 inches (it needs room to turn), curved or textured glass, or windows with raised mullions dividing the pane into small sections. If your windows have glazing bars, the robot will clean each section individually rather than the whole pane in one pass.

On flat, framed glass, yes. Where they struggle is caked-on grime and small, oddly shaped panes — for a window that hasn't been touched in five years, give it a rough pass by hand first, then let the robot maintain it from there.

Will it fall off my window?

Not if you use the safety rope, which is included. The robot holds itself on with continuous vacuum suction and the backup battery keeps that suction running through a power cut. Anchor the rope indoors before you start on anything above ground level.

How long does one window take?

A standard household pane takes a few minutes. The robot works to a planned route rather than wandering, so time scales predictably with the size of the glass.

Can I use it on the outside of high-rise apartment windows?

What cleaning fluid should I use?

Ordinary diluted glass cleaner, or just water for light dust. Don't use anything abrasive, oil-based, or foaming.

Is it noisy?

It runs a vacuum motor, so it's audible — roughly the level of a kitchen extractor fan. It's the trade-off for the suction that keeps it on the glass.

Does it work on mirrors and shower screens?
